:Deliciously Healthy

Do you remember the "Deliciously Healthy" blog I started a while ago?
Well, unfortunately, over the past year I've been on and off my diet. But, I'm back on it, and I'm sticking to it this time!

So, I wiped off the dust on my blog, gave it a little makeover, and started blogging again! This time, it's not just about sharing the deliciously healthy recipes I'm trying, but I'm also going to be taking you on my weight loss journey with me! The good, the bad, the funny moments, the milestones, and the victory!

If you're up for the ride, you can join me at :Deliciously Healthy.

See you there!

My Recipe Box

I have started another blog called, Deliciously Healthy. I wanted to share with you all of my favorite healthy dishes that I'm trying out, but I didn't want to completely crowd this blog. Starting the deliciously healthy blog was a good solution. I will still post my absolute favorites on this blog, but most of my favorites will be in, My Recipe Box (there is a link to my blog under My Recipe Box in the right column of this blog.) I hope you check it out, and even try some of the recipes for yourself! For these recipes to make it on my fav list, they have to be so delicious, that I forget I'm on a diet. That means you don't have to be on a diet, for you to enjoy these recipes too!

Do you know what time it is?...

...It's diet time!!
Yes, I think the time has finally come to whip our selves back into shape.

When Joe and I met and got married...well lets just say we were a little lighter then we are now :)
On one hand I have no idea what happened. One minute we were fine, and the next our pants weren't quite fitting...and we knew it wasn't the dryer's fault. On the other hand, I know exactly what happened. We ate out way too much, and we had a few too many movie nights, when we should have been having workout nights. A long time ago, my brother Sean said to me "marriage makes you gain weight." How true that is.

I do have a few bumps in the road, which contributed a little to my weight gain, and will make it a little harder for me to loose weight. I have lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and low thyroid. How do these issues affect weight loss? Low thyroid slows your metabolism making you gain weight, and makes it difficult to loose weight. For my lupus and RA, I'm on steroids, which doesn't help either. PCOS affects your insulin, making you gain weight. Last but not least, my RA makes it a little harder for me to work out. I haven't been able to run in a non-comedic way since I was like 12...lol. When it comes to working out I will have to get creative.
I have allowed these "bumps in the road" to bring me down in the past, but not anymore. I am motivated. I can do this.

This means we will have to write Dear John Letters to a few of our favorite things:
~Jim 'N Nicks (our fav restaurant)
~Olive garden
~Mimi's Cafe
~Macaroni Grill
~Del taco
~Wendy's
~Hot chocolate
~Pepsi
~Dr. Pepper
~Mountain Dew (that one is Joe's...I loath the dew)
~Late night runs to the store to get "chocolate"
~Pizza (you know your bad when you know the pizza delivery guy personally...yup, that's us)
~Getting refills of popcorn and soda at the movie theater.
~Warm, melt in your mouth brownies, stright out of the oven...Mmmmm...that one is going to hurt.
Goodness...no wonder why we gained weight!

The Plan:
We are going to try and not look at this as a "diet." We are not going to obsess over calories or carbohydrates, nor are we going to obsess over how much weight we loose each week. If it is one pound lost or five, it is better then nothing. We are simply going to eat healthier, cutting out all of the obviously bad things. I bought healthy eating cook books that have a lot of really delicious healthy recipes. I will post the super good ones for you to try for yourself if you would like. We are going to go on walks every night after dinner together, and try to do more outdoor activities together, instead of watching movies, and playing board games all the time. Joe is going to go to the gym, and I will be doing Pilates (it works well with my joints). We are discussing having a Total Gym join the family, but we are still discussing it.

The goal:
To go from this:
back to this:
So here we go! Wish us luck!
