Busy Busy Weekend

This weekend was our official Spring Cleaning.
I started Friday night while Joe was at a hokey game with a friend. Joe and I finished up the bulk of it together on Saturday. Our To-Do list included:
  • cleaning the fridge
  • cleaning the stove
  • cleaning the microwave
  • dust the banister (a dreaded task)
  • dust the fans and light fixtures
  • cleaning walls, doors, and door nobs
  • cleaning windows
  • organizing bathroom cabinets and drawers
  • organizing kitchen cabinets and drawers
  • organizing linen closets
  • cleaning and organizing garage
along with our everyday cleaning of the dishes, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and laundry.

Here are a few of my before and afters:

Kitchen Drawer Before:After:kitchen Cabinet Before:After:I didn't intend for it to be empty, but after finding a home for everything that was in there, I didn't have anything to put in it. It's our only empty kitchen cabinet...I'll find a use for it someday.

Front Linen Closet Before:After:Garage Before:After:My Stove After: I don't have a before, but you wouldn't be able to see what was on there anyway. It had some sort of film stuck on it, that would absolutely not come off. I think it was from when water would boil over? For the record, I have learned that I don't like glass stove tops. Any who, I was able to get the mystery stains off, thanks to one man...Mr. Clean. He made my stove shine!

I loved checking one chore off after the other from my to do list. It was very satisfying, and kinda therapeutic. Next weekend we still need to power wash the outside of the house, as well as clean and make a few paint touch ups to our baseboards. Although I'd say we conquered the bulk of our Spring Cleaning this past weekend :)

After we were all finished, Joe and I decided to reward ourselves by going to Old Chicago (my diet is currently MIA, but it will come back...it has to). I had never been there, and now I'm saying, "Where have you been all my life?" It was so yummy! They have appetizer pizza rolls, that is basically like a Cinnamon roll, but with pizza toppings inside, instead of Cinnamon...they were absolutely delish!!When we got home I made chocolate chip cookies, and watched Twilight with Joe. My Cousins, Cathy and Jennifer had seen it recently, and they said I absolutely had to rent it ASAP! It was a good movie. I didn't fall head over heals with it, like the rest of the world apparently has, but it was good. I'm guessing reading the book is the better experience.
After watching our movie, we played with the dogs,
and then went to bed.

In the midst of our Spring Cleaning, Thumbalina had a vet appointment to get some shots, and we made an interesting discovery. The vet (not her normal vet), was looking over her paper work and said "She's not a Torkie" Joe then asked "What is she?" Her vet replied "She is a Corkie" A Cairn terrier and a Yorkie mix. She showed us a picture of a Cairn Terrier, and a light bulb went off...
This is a Cairn......And this is ThumbalinaDuh! She is so obviously a Cairn Terrier!
I just laughed. It has been a long road to figuring out what Thumbalina is. At the pet shop they told us she was a Poodle/Yorkie mix...plain and simple. When we got home we researched yorkiepoos, and came to the conclusion, that was not what she was. After researching the Internet, and comparing pictures, we thought she was a toy fox terrier/Yorkie mix. Thanks to her observant vet we now know she is a Cairn/Yorkie mix...finally! It's funny because everyone always tells us that she looks like Toto, off Wizard Of Oz. That's because she is the dog off Wizard Of Oz! Breed wise.
Cairns are known to be very intelligent, friendly, quick to learn, sensitive, have an inborn affinity for children, are known for their loyalty, and are said to be the perfect family dogs.
I'm just happy to finally know what exactly she is! We love her all the same!

We had a fun and busy weekend, and we hope you did too! Not the busy part ;0)
